Scholarships for High School Seniors
The following scholarships, administered through the Community Schools Office, are available to high school seniors enrolled in Pender County Schools.
Alfred John Mazzacca Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established to help Pender County graduating students in need of financial assistance attend college. Mr. Mazzacca, a New Jersey native, was a chemical engineer, scientist, and co-inventor of waste water decontamination systems. Upon retirement, he moved to the Hampstead area. Because of Mr. Mazzacca’s love of the sciences, a scholarship award was established in his memory. The scholarships are made possible by Mrs. Vidyut Jhaveri Mazzacca through a generous donation to Pender County Schools. Four $2500 scholarship(s) are available to graduating high school seniors of Pender County Schools who plan to pursue a degree in science, engineering, or mathematics. Deadline April 16.
David W. and Anne B. Pearsall Merit Award – NC State University
This scholarship award, made possible through an endowment by the late David W. and Anne B. Pearsall, from Rocky Point, will be presented to outstanding Pender County graduating seniors who will major in the area of Engineering or Computer Science at North Carolina State University. One Scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $2000 per year, renewable up to four years. Deadline April 16.
David W. and Anne B. Pearsall Merit Award– UNC Wilmington
This scholarship award, made possible through an endowment by the late David W. and Anne B. Pearsall, from Rocky Point, will be presented to an outstanding graduating senior enrolled in Pender County Schools who will attend the University of North Carolina Wilmington. The scholarship award is $1500 per year, renewable up to four years. Deadline April 16.
Kitty E. Croom Memorial Scholarship
For over ten years Kitty E. Croom worked for Pender High School. She was a strong advocate of education with a desire for children with financial need to be able to attend college. Thanks to a very generous endowment, this scholarship was established in 2004 according to beneficiary directions. $2500 per year, renewable for up to four years, will be awarded to a graduating Pender High School senior. Edna Kellett Memorial Scholarship
The Edna R. Kellett Memorial Scholarship was established in 2005 according to the Mrs. Kellett’s beneficiary directions. While little is known about Mrs. Kellett, her generosity is deeply appreciated. $1500 per year up to four years will be awarded to a Topsail High School graduating senior. Deadline April 16.
