Athletics
Pender County Schools offer a comprehensive athletics program for middle and high school student/athletes. The five middle schools- Burgaw, Cape Fear, Pendererlea, Topsail, and West Pender- compete within the Pender County Middle Schools Conference.  Athletic offerings include football, softball, boys and girls basketball, baseball, volleyball, and cheerleading.

Topsail High School competes in the East Central 2A Conference. Other conference members are Richlands, Swansboro, Jacksonville Northside, Croatan, Clinton, East Duplin, and South Lenior. Pender High School and Trask High School are members of the Tri-County 1A Conference. Their respective conference foes are Wallace-Rose Hill, James Kenan, Union, Midway, Lakewood and Hobbton.  Sports offered at the three county high schools include football, cross-country, volleyball, soccer, tennis, track and field, wrestling, basketball, cheerleading, baseball, softball, and golf.
