PHS Yearbook Staff Attend Summer Institute


The Heritage,  Pender High School's yearbook, won several awards during the North Carolina Scholastic Media Association Summer Institute at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Carol Eanes, adviser of the publication, was reelected Vice-President for the yearbook division of the Institute’s Advisor Association. Senior Erin Cauley, the Editor-in- Chief of the publication, was elected as a student officer for 2009-2010.

The 2009 Heritage won a Second Place for Theme, Honorable Mentions for Cover Design and Layout and Design. Erin Cauley won a First Place for Caption Writing and an Honorable Mention for her Sports Photography. The book advanced from the Honor to the Distinction Category.

Both Pender High School and Trask High School were represented at the conference.  Ms. Carol Eanes from Pender High School, and Ms. Stephanie Crews from Trask High School were installed as advisor officers.
